Pittsburgh Podcast Ya Jagoff hosts discussion on racial inequality

Pittsburgh, PA — Easy conversations don’t require a press release. Uncomfortable, difficult, racial inequality questions do — not for controversy, but to encourage listening, understanding and change.

This Wednesday, July 15, from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m., John and Rachael from the Pittsburgh Podcast Ya Jagoff, will host a panel discussion titled “The Change Exchange,” accessible through Ya Jagoff Facebook Live, as well as other platforms (see full list below).

“How do white people help? Because this is a marathon, not a sprint,” said Ya Jagoff Media partner John Chamberlin, on the need for the discussion.

Pittsburgh notables have agreed to not only participate as panelists but help develop the discussion through compiling the difficult questions.

“Listening and not waiting to be the next to talk is vital.  We will see to it that everyone involved has an educational experience that requires continuation of the conversation,” said Rachael Rennebeck, Ya Jagoff Media partner.

The panelists include:

  • Jim Rooney, author of “A Different Way to Win, Dan Rooney’s Story.”

  • FRZY, Emmy and Grammy award-winning artist.

  • Felicia Mycyk, community advocate and Ambridge Connection publisher.

  • Sarah Aziz, Pittsburgh Cultural Trust program manager of festivals and special projects.

  • Arthur Moats, self-motivation author, radio personality, and retired Pittsburgh Steeler.

  • Andrew Conte, director of the Center For Media Innovation at Point Park University and author of The Color of Sundays, a book about professional football and civil rights.

  • Olga George, Pittsburgh Black Media Federation vice president, an Emmy-nominated producer and creator of OGCooking.

Viewers will be able to submit questions to the panelists (by chat; viewers will not be on video).

Partners Point Park Center for Media Innovation and the Pittsburgh Black Media Federation will also facilitate the panel discussion thanks to volunteer technical support from Sorgatron Media’s Michael Sorg.
